Known as one of the “winter” squashes, the butternut squash offers a delicious, creamy, sweet flavor. Typically enjoyed by most during the fall months, the butternut squash can be consumed year-round in various forms. When combined with maple syrup or brown sugar and sweet spices, it tastes similar to pumpkin pie. Adding a touch of vanilla, butter, orange juice, nutmeg or cinnamon can enhance its flavor making it a hit even with kids.
VDF offers all of the goodness of butternut squash in a drum-dried form for use in a variety of applications including baby foods, purees, soups, sauces, and pastas (i.e. ravioli, risotto).
