This delicately-flavored tropical fruit is native to South America (mainly Peru), where it is known for its use in ice cream and other confectionary products. Lúcuma, pronounced (Loo-Ku-Mah), has a firm, rich pumpkin-like pulp that is orange-yellow in color. It is a very aromatic fruit with a maple-like flavor. And Lúcuma is not without nutritional benefits?it is an excellent source of beta carotene and vitamin B3 (niacin).
