| History |
In 1856, the Van Drunen family immigrated from the Netherlands to South Holland, Illinois near Chicago. Soon they began providing customers with potatoes, peas, beans, onions, cabbage and carrots.
As the years passed, the family farm supplied an ever-changing variety of produce to satisfy their customers. An expanded market, in the 1960's, saw the Van Drunens selling fresh and frozen chives to the Chicago market, and as freeze-drying technology became perfected in the 1970's, Van Drunen Farms began to offer custom freeze-dried chives to their customers.
From potatoes, onions and chives, to a full line of value-added fruits, vegetables and herbs, today, the Van Drunen commitment to providing the highest quality ingredients to local, national and international food manufacturers is unchanged. Van Drunen Farms continues to grow and change to meet the needs of our customers.
